Yoga basics. A great activity for body and mind.

Yoga is a great activity for your body, mind and spirit. But don't think it's easy because you might get surprised. Here are some examples of the exercises you have to perform:

These positions require a lot of balance, flexibility and static strength resulting in a great exercise for your whole body. The best thing about yoga is that anyone can practice it despite age, physical condition, strength and other skills that might leave people out of other activities.

Some benefits of yoga

  • Posture correction: Your back, arms, legs and the rest of your body will thank you for making them work. Your muscles will be toned and firm and you will reduce back and neck pain produced by long hours sitting in front of a computer.
  • Peaceful state of mind: Despite the stress of daily life, you will find yourself able to remain calm in difficult situations. This will reflect in better decisions and improved effectiveness in your job.
  • Breathing techniques: Breathing is a great way to find harmony with everything you do. It is also useful to manage your feelings and keep centered in any situation.
  • Pregnancy: During this period, women can still perform most of the exercises. This will help them to keep a good physical shape and it also helps reducing the pains associated with pregnancy.

You can get all these benefits with very few requirements. Just put on your favorite sweat pants or shorts and t-shirt, you can practice with shoes or with bare feet. You might also want to buy a yoga mat or some other yoga apparel but it is not really necessary.
